Olleya marilimosa VIG2317 is a marine-derived bacterial strain belonging to the family Flavobacteriaceae, originally isolated from seawater collected off the east coast of Taiwan. It is a Gram-negative, aerobic, motile, yellow-pigmented bacterium selected for its ability to produce high-value bioactive metabolites through controlled fermentation processes.
This strain is best known for its capacity to biosynthesize natural zeaxanthin, a carotenoid compound widely studied for its antioxidant, photoprotective, and skin-conditioning properties. The microbial zeaxanthin produced by VIG2317 has been reported in patents to achieve high purity (≥90% HPLC area) following extraction and purification.
